Two day road adventure: An afternoon at a tea house.

We spend an afternoon at the hotel's tea house. Each one of these rooms (on three floors) are private and semi-private gaming rooms. Here you spend the day playing majong or cards, ordering up lunch and dinner, beer and tea, of course. They come equipped with couches for the in-between games nap.
The tea house wraps around this coy pond.
Looking from our balcony across to the main floor.

This photo actually wasn't supposed to be here but for some reason my "delete" won't delete. Sigh. This is really the next morning at the tea house - Sky and Guy and I came down to buy some tea - we were treated to a tea ceremony given by a delicate young woman who spoke to Guy and I like we understood her all the way through. It was enchanting and lovely. We did get some really good tea, too.
An "artsy" photo taken from the pond level. Haha.
Here we are in our room. This is a really fancy table where-in the tiles are shoved underneath, then mechanically sorted and ascend up all stacked and ready to go. Guy and Sky aren't bored or unhappy here, they are concentrating. The three of us had never played the game the right way, and Yue Li was very patient teaching us this game that every child here can play.

Once we got the hang of it we loved it. We couldn't wait to play it again.

  1. Love the tea pot fountain in the koi pond! It's a beautiful hotel. Do you sleep on beds? On futons?

  2. The beds, oh the beds. All the beds here are HARD. And after a few days sleeping on one I actually feel better when I get up in the morning.

  4. Majong. We're hooked on it now. Yue Li is anxious for us to learn it well so we can go home and teach everyone there if they don't know how to play it. The master plan is for us all to learn so that when she and Sky visit we can play together.
