LOL. I love these - everyone uses them.

  1. I was really impressed with the calculators--it served as an international language when it came to shopping in the markets. No misunderstanding when it came to what the merchant would sell for and what the buyer was willing to pay. Love your blogs--it's the first thing I look for in the morning. Glad you made it over Guy, I'm sure you will enjoy it and was that a very proud smile I detected in the picture with Baby Star Star? Libbie

  5. Hey - are you coming home at the same time or extending your stay since Guy just got there?

  6. The one in the picture doesn't use Chinese characters, Maggie. It looks just like the one I have on my desk.

Guess what? I just got a ticket to go see the "Shen Yun Performing Arts" group. At first I thought it was a group like Yue li used to be with but after reading the literature it says the group is based in New York, not China.

  8. Me again. I think we can all agree that the talking calculators are very cool. HOWEVER, they do not rate star billing on the blog for going on three days!

Another video of Star Star, yes. Pictures of your trip into the country, quite probably. But of a talking calculator, even one that talks in Chinese? The natives are getting restless, little sister :-)

  9. Talk to my group here - I haven't had one second to sit still at the computer - I'm getting sooo grumpy about it, even though we are having SO MUCH FUN, oh my gosh. You know Guy, always on the go, no such thing as down time with him. I think these two kids will be so glad to see us go, and probably sleep for a week! Anyway, off to do some present shopping with Yue Li, and she's a powerhouse when it comes to shopping. I'm lucky that be she has the baby to slow her down, and that the markets all have little plastic stools I can sit on while she bargains and visits and commits to memory the clothes and the prices so she can go home and find it on taobao, Chinese e-bay, for half the price.
